MDOT representative presents plans on new bridge across Kennebec

Citizens interested in the new Norridgewock bridge gathered on August 22 at the Central Grade School to hear proposals and ask questions of Maine Department of Transportation Project Manager Wayne Frankhauser.  Slated to cost $16 million, bids will be accepted in 2007 and construction is expected to take two years.  Although the bridge will be owned and maintained by MDOT, especially pleased were snowmobile clubs that will use and maintain a 7-foot multi-purpose lane on the upper  side of the Kennebec river.  Slated to have a single arch, provisions have been made for 510-feet of visibility at each end of the bridge, which will be made of concrete or a combination of concrete and steel.
