    Good morning, dear friends.
Don’t worry, be happy!
    Received the following e-mail
from Pat Cameron of the Embden
Extension Homemakers and she
writes: Ladies mark your calendar!
Save Tuesday, April 8, 2008,
for an important seminar on
“Heart Truth.” Learn the facts
regarding heart disease in
women. Heart disease is the #1
killer of women in Maine! The
extension Homemakers of
Embden and Solon will present
this program at a combined meeting
at the Congregational Church
in North Anson. The meeting is
open to the public. Come learn
the risk factors, the warning signs
of a heart attack, the changes we
can make in our lives to prevent
heart disease. The meeting will
begin at 10:30 a.m. and last to
approximately 1 p.m. Lunch is
included at no charge. Come to
this important seminar and bring
a friend whose health is important
to you. For more information,
you may contact Embden’s
President Alberta Philpot.
More news to share was hand
delivered to me last Saturday by a
cute little girl and she wrote: I
would like to send a huge thank
you to all of the people in
Embden who donated bottles on
Feb. 21, 2008. My name is
Kaylee and I go to Embden
School and we were collecting
bottles because we need to raise
money for sweatshirts for our
civil rights team. There are five
of us on the team and we got
together with our team leaders
which are Mrs. White and Mrs.
Tripp and, of course, our parents.
On this day we collected $216,
not just in bottles, but also donations,
but then the great Jeff and
Tom of the Solon Redemption
gave us another donation which
brought us up to $250. So we
want to give a great big thank you
to those people. From the
Embden Elementary Civil Rights
Team.
    Merle Rancourt of Solon is
now residing at the Redington
Memorial Home in Skowhegan.
She moved into the home on
March 3, all her friends at
Grizwalds’ miss her very much.
The third session of the Solon
After-School Program began on
March 3. The program will offer
special activities for K-5 students
on Monday and Wednesday afternoons
from 2:30 - 4:45 p.m.
through April 9. Director Wendy
Witham, co-director Roxanne
Archer, and the board of directors
for the program have planned
some great activities for the students
including fly tying, jewelry
making, bug painting, egg dying,
card stamping, and making volcanoes.
Each session also
includes a homework component.
The program has been very successful
with a high rate of participation
from the Solon students.
I was pleased to receive an
invitation to my son Peter’s birthday
celebration on Sunday afternoon.
It was a wonderful time.
Melanie, Mike and children,
Nathan and Samantha came up
from Portland and Chandra, Eric
and boys Devin and Cole came
over from Bangor. Melanie had
made a special birthday cake for
Peter which was too nice to cut. It
depicted Peter and Sherry’s little
camper with a fireplace and the
two of them laying beside the
camper, (we did end up eating it
and it was delicious!)
My poor Percy is sneezing his
head off this morning, he layed
on top of me all week while I
sneezed and wheezed and was a
most loving caregiver, but I’m
afraid he caught the bug! My
sympathy and love go out to him
for caring so much and I’m going
to let him have a few extra words
this week to make him feel better.
    He decided on this entitled,
Finding Peace: Go to that place
today. You know, that one place
where everyone else just doesn’t
matter anymore – the traffic, the
deadlines, the stress, the
demands, all the hassles of doing
life in a world like ours. Go to
that quiet place. It doesn’t have to
be for long. Just long enough to
breathe, to be. Give yourself the
gift of time, of space, of solitude.
Go there. Remember. Listen
Look. Listen some more. And in
that still, small whisper, hear the
Lord… and know you are loved.
