Toy collection
Staff members of the South China branch of Border Trust have had the privilege of “dressing down” on Fridays (for a fee of $2) and they have used the accumulated fees to purchase toys that will be distributed this Christmas to Toys for Tots and to the China Food Pantry. The toys have been on display in the bank’s lobby under the Christmas tree.
Delores DeMerchant, teller supervisor, said, “Customers have caught the spirit of giving and have added to the collection of toys, and Stacy of Stacy’s Hallmark in Augusta has also brought in a generous supply of toys.” She mentioned, “It’s been exciting to see the pile of toys increase under the tree, especially since it all started with our staff coming to work on Fridays in our casual clothes, creating an informal and fun atmosphere.” She added, Donna Martin, branch manager, said, “Customers can bring in unwrapped toys right up until Christmas, making the holidays a little brighter for many of the children in our local communities.” Pictured are, front, Patrick Cheek, standing, left to right, Delores DeMerchant and Molly Ladd.
