HALSTEAD H. CROSBY

FAIRFIELD– –Halstead H. Crosby , 94, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center , Thayer Unit.
     Halstead was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Annie (Hoyt) Crosby; a brother Beryl Crosby; a sister Alpha Brown; and two nephews, Allen and David Brown.
     He is survived by his wife, Katharine (Henrick) Crosby ; a nephew, Donald Crosby Brown and his wife, Margret; and a niece, Donna Brown.
 ONA MARY DELANO
WHITEFIELD––Ona Mary Delano , 82, passed away April 10, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center , Augusta . Ona was born in Gardiner on July 16, 1925, a daughter of Dominick and Gertrude (Lane) Palosky.
She attended Whitefield School, Kings Mills School , and Cony High. She married Osborn Delano Sr. on May 6, 1941.
She was employed with Kennebec Manufacture and Kirschner. She was also a constable, a town warden, and worked in animal control, all for the Town of Whitefield.
     Ona lived in Whitefield where she enjoyed farming, making butter, and working on her dairy farm. She loved flowers and gardening, her dogs, cattle, and horses.
      Ona enjoyed and loved her family. She was a person who loved to help others and did so in many ways.
     She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Chalmers David Palosky.
     She is survived by her husband, Osborn Delano Sr.; children, Osborn Delano Jr. and companion Linda Gallant, Gloria Jane Russell and husband David, all of
Whitefield; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

SCOTT G. GILBERT
ALBION– –Scott G. Gilbert, 44, of Quimby Road, died unexpectedly April 18, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Waterville on November 12, 1962, the son of Maurice and Rita (Williamson) Gilbert.
     Mr. Gilbert was a high school graduate and had his own heating and plumbing business know as Scott’s Plumbing and Heating Company. He was an avid
humorist.
     Survivors include his wife, Doreen (Michaud) Gilbert of Albion ; a son, Patrick Gilbert of Albion ; a daughter, Jennifer Gilbert of Winslow; his father and mother, Maurice and Rita Gilbert of Winslow; a brother Alton Gilbert and wife Sandy of
Palmer, Alaska ; a sister, Janet Harrison and husband Bruce, of Belgrade ; a grandson, Trever; and several nieces and nephews.

FAITH E. HALLOWELL
WINDSOR––Faith E. Hallowell, 57, of Pine Ridge Drive, died Monday, April 16, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center , Augusta . She was born October 20, 1949, in Augusta, the daughter of Carl and Alice (Mitchell) Weston Jr. 
     Faith was a member of West Gardiner Baptist Church . She enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Foxwoods with her husband, watching sci-fi movies and
sharing old stories of times in her past, particularly time spend with her family.
     She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas; her parents; and a son, Mark Hallowell.
     Faith is survived by daughters Alicia Hafford of Windsor, Sheila Jackson and husband Carl of Augusta, Cynthia Hallowell of Windsor, and Stephaine Hallowell of Windsor; sons Matthew Hallowell of Augusta , James Hallowell and girlfriend
Jessica of Lewiston , and Casey Hallowell of Windsor; brother Carl Weston III and wife Cheryl, of West Gardiner; and grandchildren Carl, Christopher, Lacie,
Donaven, Aarika and Christina.

JULIAN F. HOWELL
WHITEFIELD––Julian F. Howell, 83, died April 17, 2007. He was born December 11, 1923, in Watertown Massachusetts .
     He graduated from Mount Hermon School and Trinity College. He was a World War II veteran and proudly served his country as a twin and four-engine pilot.
     He was a resident of Whitefield for 54 years where he farmed for 30 years, and was later employed at Bath Iron Works. His life revolved around his farm, gardening, classical music, his town, the cottage at Sheepscot Lake , and his beloved country.
     He was a member of the North Whitefield Fire Department for 30 years and held most offices, including finance chairman.
     He secured government surplus equipment for the fire departments and the school; was chairman of the Whitefield Fish and Game for five years; chairman of
the Whitefield Conservation Commission; responsible for the writing of the Whitefield Shoreland Ordinance; chairman of the planning board; a member of the town budget commission; a member of both the town and county Republican committees; and developed the Whitefield Veterans Memorial in which 70 people contributed labor, materials, and money. He was a member of several choruses. He also organized the Whitefield Senior Men’s Group.
     He was predeceased by his sisters, Beatrice and Constance Howell.
     He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dot; his three daughters, Wendy Stanley of Portland , Heidi Gotlib and husband David, of South Dartmouth , Massachusetts , and Dolly Burns and husband Dan, of Whitefield; two sons, Jeff and wife Cathi, of Livermore, and Dick and wife Shari , of Whitefield; and a brother, Leonard, of Ft. Myers , Florida . There are eight grandchildren, Jonny and Jesse Gotlib, Caryn and Laura Howell, Josh and Ashley Howell, and Nathan and Hannah Burns. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Art and wife Kay, of Naples, Florida . His good friends also include Austin Moore and the men of the Whitefield Senior Men’s Group.
CLAUDETTE P. LANDRY
WINSLOW––Claudette P. Landry, 70, of Winslow, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville . Born April 18, 1936, she was the daughter of Jean- Baptiste and Emilia (Fortin) Doyon in St. George, Quebec .
     She married Roland Landry on June 28, 1958. Claudette was known for her huge heart and her family always came first. Her first born great-granddaughter, Denasia, was the love of her life.
     Besides her parents, Claudette was predeceased by one brother, Jean-Rock Doyon and his wife, Theresa.
     Surviving are her husband, Roland; one daughter, Linda Knight and her husband, Richard, of Winslow; two grandchildren, Jen Snow and her husband,
David, and John Michaud Jr., all of Winslow; and four greatgrandchildren,
Denasia Peavey, Haylee Snow, Makayla Snow and Jared Snow, all of Winslow. She
is also survived by one brother, Louison Doyon and his wife, Salouge; four sisters, Doris Labbe and her husband, Victor, Renaude Fortin, Lise Maroux and her husband, Jean-Claude, all of St. George, Quebec , and Huguette Bedard of Sherbrooke , New Brunswick ; two brothers-inlaw, Charlie Landry and his wife,
Dot, and Paul Landry and his wife, Vickie, of Waterville ; and seven nieces and five nephews.

SIDNEY F. MAINVILLE
WHITEFIELD––Sidney F. “Papabear” Mainville, 62, of Whitefield, passed away April 13, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center , Augusta . He was born a proud Native American in Ft. Francis, Ontario, , April 3, 1945, the son of Chief
Augustine Mainville and Marie ( Lyons ) Mainville.
     He was the best dad in the world, and an honest, hardworking family man. He was also a loving husband who cherished the important things in life.
     He enjoyed fishing, playing catch, reading, and attending his children's sporting events.
     He was a good-natured man whose contagious smile will always be remembered.
Everyone who knew Sis loved and respected him. He truly made this world a better place.
     Sidney was employed as a welder by Bath Iron Works for over 25 years. He was previously  employed by Cianbro Construction Co., and General Electric in South Portland . As a younger man, he spent his summers as a fishing guide in
while working for a railroad company.
     He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Mainville, and his parents.
     Surviving are his wife, Bonnie (Gallagher) Mainville of Whitefield; son, Joshua
Mainville of Portland; daughters, Melissa Mainville and Katie Mainville, both of Whitefield; brother, Gary Mainville of Kremmer, Wyoming ; sister, Marilyn Thompson and husband Wray of Toronto, Ontario , ; loving mother-in-law,
Lenore Gallagher of Augusta ; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several cousins in ; and many nieces and nephews.
