GEORGE M. MARTIN
CHINA–George M. Martin, 77, formerly of Queens, New York, died on April 5, 2007. He was b o r n February 22, 1930, the only son of
Michael and Anne Martin of whom he was predeceased.
H e entered the Navy serving honorably in the Philippines during the
Korean War. He was a well educated man of many vocations. He will always be remembered by all those whose lives he touched as a loving husband, wonderful father, exceptional grandfather, avid ice fisherman,
breakfast cook, dairy farmer, chicken farmer, bus driver, selectman to the Town of China, a strong religious conviction, immensely kind hearted, friendly to everyone he met, our whitehaired George.
In 1971, George and Arlene (his wife of 50 years of whom he is survived) left Long Island, N.Y., to move to China and a better life for their family. He became an instant farmer of chickens and dairy cows. Later he helped at his son's restaurant playing cribbage with the customers
and flipping eggs.
He is survived by his six children: Valoree, Gregory, Diane (and her children, Cassandra and Catherine), Janice (Michael, her husband, and their children, Nicol, Anthony, Bryton, Joseph, Regina, Michael II, and Kristin), Douglas and Laura.
The family wishes to thank all the staff of both Thayer MMC
(floor 4 and CCU) and Lakewood Manor for their excellent care and compassion.
A public memorial service to honor and remember George will be held at Notre Dame Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville, on April 17, at 11 a.m.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.

JANICE M. CROSBY
JEFFERSON–Janice M. Crosby, 66, of Sawdust Lane, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center,
Augusta Campus. She was born in Augusta on August 26, 1940, a
daughter of Chauncey W. and Thelma A. (Darroch) Hallowell.
Mrs. Crosby was a graduate of Erskine Academy, class of 1958.
She had been employed by the State of Maine, Harness Racing and also the Dairy and Nutrition Council as well as being coowner of Crosby Lumber with her husband, Stanley.
Janice was very involved with helping mentally disabled children and held a special place in her heart for them.
Mrs. Crosby was pre-deceased by her father, Chauncey W. Hallowell.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Stanley N. Crosby, of
Jefferson; two sons: Jay Crosby, of Belfast, and Trevor Crosby, of
Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughter, Kelly Colby and her husband
Nat, of Windsor; her mother, Thelma A. (Darroch) Hallowell, of Augusta; a sister, Norma Miller, of Windsor; two grandchildren: Shane and Kelsey
Colby as well as nieces and nephews.

CHRISTOPHER LUCK
CHINA–Christopher L. Luck of China passed away April 6, 2007 at home. Chris was born December 6, 1952 in Iowa, the son of Clarence and Norma Luck.
Chris joined the Army in 1969 and served until 1981.
He met his wife, Erin, when they were both stationed in Germany. They were married in Seguin, Texas on May 24, 1978.
Chris worked as a physicians assistant at the Calais Regional Hospital from the time of his discharge from the Army in 1981 to 1984; from 1984 to 1989 with Dr. Lloyd Holmes in Iowa. Chris and Erin then moved to China in April, 1989 where Chris worked at the Thayer Hospital until his
death.
Chris was a man of many talents. He was a self taught luthier and an accomplished musician. Chris was an excellent carpenter making many improvements to his home including a large deck and gazebo.
Chris is survived by his wife Erin and a sister, Connie Siefert of Clinton, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Maine or the Humane Society of Waterville.
JOHN M. THERIAULT JR.
NORTH WHITEFIELD–John Moses Theriault, Jr., 77, of Hilton Road, formerly of Vassalboro, died on Saturday, April 7, 2007, after a long illness. He was born in Needham, Massachusetts, on May 23, 1929 a son of the late John M. Theriault, Sr., and Viola ( T a y l o r ) Theriault.
M r . Theriault was a graduate of Needham High School in Needham, MA.
He attended of the Calvary Bible Baptist Church in North Whitefield, ME.
Mr. Theriault had been employed by Slosberg’s Clothing, in Gardiner, as a sales clerk for 32 years.
He was a selectman in the Town of Whitefield for many years. In his younger years, he was very active in the fire department, town meeting suppers, Lions Club and the PTA. In the last 35 years he enjoyed making jams and jellies, buying and selling antiques and traveling to visit
family.
John was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved all of his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
John loved to joke and tease with his dry sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Esther (Closson) Theriault of North Whitefield; two sons: John M. Theriault, III. and his wife Juanita of Jaffrey, NH and Mark Theriault and his wife Valerie of North Whitefield;
a daughter, Laure Lee Duff and her husband Timothy of Springfield, MA; a brother, William Theriault and his wife Maureen of Hagerstown, MD; a
sister, Maureen Porcella and her husband Tommy of Ashland, MA; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

DZIRKSTITE BUSMANIS
CHINA–Dzirkstite “Zita” Busmanis, 77, of Riga Rd., died peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Blidene, Latvia on September 23, 1929 a daughter of the late Fricis and Olga (Skaris) Simanis.
Mrs. Busmanis attended schools in Latvia and had been employed by Swank, Inc. in Attleboro, MA for over 25 years.
Upon retirement, Zita moved from Norton, MA to South China, where she enjoyed tending her many gardens, cooking, knitting, and reading by the lake.
She is survived by her husband, Viesturs J. Busmanis of South China; a son, Andis I. Busmanis and his wife Karla of South China; a daughter, Baiba Bangerskis and her husband Gundars of Bellingham, MA; a
sister, Gunta Bebrekarklis of Kihei, HI: three grandchildren: Larisa, Nickole and Zackary Busmanis as well as two nieces and two nephews.
